Kirby Wins Franke's First Photography Show From the Moultrie News, September 9, 2009 - On Friday, August 28, Franke at Seaside Physical Plant Coordinator Treva Kirby was honored as the winner of the first Franke at Seaside Photography Show for her photograph “Cowboy Dreams,” sponsored by the newly formed resident Photography Club. Taking second, third, and honorable mention are Carroll Gilliam’s “Highland Sunset II,” Elizabeth DeVane’s “Haiti: Boys Graduation,” and Lew Shuler’s “Walk the Line” and “Ya all Wet,” respectively, all residents of Franke at Seaside; also Dace Jones’s “Wheeeee!,” a photograph of cliff diving, was voted Most Popular Photograph by those at the opening reception. The show features the talents of residents from all levels of care at Franke and is hosted by Tasi Bites and Blends in the Shoppes at Seaside Farms; photography will remain on display through the month of September. Chef wins ‘Miss’ America pageant From the Moultrie News, July 29, 2009 - In April, Franke at Seaside crowned its first Miss America Franke as part of a celebration of humor and the health benefits of laughter. The Miss America Franke Pageant featured seven men who make Franke their home and five men from the staff. At the end of the talent and poise rounds of competition, the attending audience voted Chef Enzo “Ensa” Steffenelli the first Miss America Franke; Steffenelli, who brought the house down with a sultry rendition of Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby,” is the active lifestyle director of Culinary and Hospitality Services.
